Internet Age Idioms

portraitsWill future periods refer back to phrases coined in the last fifteen years? Will our memes become their old sayings?

Will I, as an old man in the 2050s, comfort my grandson (a budding author whose latest doorstopper was just rejected for publishing) by shaking my head and saying, “You know what they say: too long; didn’t read.”

You know the old adage, “Pics or it didn’t happen.”

I heard there were some break-ins in our neighborhood. Better hide yo’ kids, hide yo’ wife.

I can see the political campaign slogans now. “Your policies are bad and you should feel bad!” “I can haz benefits?” And the acceptance speeches… “Looks like everything’s coming up Milhouse!”

I’d explore this topic further, but ain’t nobody got time for that. Thanks Obama.
