About 9 o’clock last night, we started trying to figure out what Lauren should read next, since she (surprisingly) loved Harry Potter (I haven’t finished the books, don’t spoil anything please). By the time I went to bed at 12:30, we had graduated through discussions of first- and third-person writing styles, definitions of high and low fantasy, a great debate about whether any utopia is believable (or must automatically devolve into a dystopia), and finished out with the topic of the relationship between real anarchy (not the popular vision of it) and natural law. We decided she would start the Alchemyst series next.
